What originally attracted you to the IZEA community and how did you find out about it?

As I started building my blog and readership I noticed that a lot of other high quality writers were using IZEA and I decided I needed to be a part of that community!  Thankfully IZEA agreed with me and here we are.  The community is super easy to work with and always values our (writers) time and commitment to programs we are involved with.

Describe your blog in 140 characters or less –

We are building our story one day at a time. Follow our family of four in Colorado as we chat about family life, good reads and yummy eats!

What inspires you to blog?

In 2009 my blog became my outlet.  Now it is more than that.  It is my second career, maybe my only career one day, and now that I am here doing this on a daily basis I wouldn’t have it any other way.  I love my readers, I love writing, I love getting creative in the kitchen and I have also loved some of the opportunities that my blog has brought to my family and me.

Do you ever get stumped for what to write? How do you overcome this?

I make lists.  I look around my workplace and home and make lists.  What sounds good for dinner or a snack or what books do I want to dive into.  I brainstorm a lot and end up with tons of ideas and usually one of those gets me going!

What is the coolest thing your blog has helped you do?

I have met a lot of great bloggers and some of them are my friends now.  I have gotten to travel and also my family loves the yumminess that comes out of our kitchen now!  It’s like a little Betty Crocker was hiding in there all along!

What do you love about IZEA?

As I said before, IZEA values us as writers and understands that a lot of us do blog to financially help our families.  Because of that, I always feel like IZEA makes working with them easy and beneficial.

What has been your favorite IZEA campaign?

So far – My Carmax experience.  I got to go to my local CarMax and talk to a rep.  He was so kind and helped us with the idea of buying a new car soon.

How do you actively stay engaged with your audience?

Facebook and Instagram are my favorite social media outlets in terms of connecting with my readers.  So easy to share.  Pinterest is all about the pinable image and I love when I see my readers go crazy over a new recipe or DIY project!

What tips can you give other bloggers that can help set them apart and stand out?

BE YOU!  Do not put yourself down and compare yourself to other bloggers.  Work hard and you will become what you desire.  Build a great tribe in the blog world and in the “in real life” world and lean on that tribe.  They will support you through your highs and those low lows!
